Head of Unit – General issues of energy security

Martin Meurers heads the Energy Security Policy Unit at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in Berlin. Previously, he headed various units in the Ministry’s Economic Policy Department, most recently the Unit for Fundamental Issues of Economic Policy. He was also a consultant in the G7/20 Sherpa staff at the Federal Chancellery and was seconded to the OECD in Paris. He holds a doctorate in economics and worked as a research assistant at the ifo Institute for Economic Research in Munich. Most recently, he was in charge of measures to counter an energy supply crisis and the implementation of price brakes for gas, electricity and heat.
